Our Communities
Abergele, Pensarn and St George are great places to live and work, with a lively community spirit.
In December last year, Town Councils in Conwy and Denbs. were asked by the then High Sheriff of Clwyd, Stephanie Catherall to send in nominations for persons or groups who they thought could be considered for 'The High Sheriff's of Clwyd's Community Award' for work recognised by their community.
It was proposed by the Mayor that Beulah Brass Band should be nominated for the excellent contribution they give to the Abergele community and surrounding area.
We were delighted to hear that our nomination was successful and that an Awards Ceremony was to be held at Theatr Clwyd in Mold. The Mayor and 6 members of the band were invited to the ceremony to receive their award from the High Sheriff.
Unfortunately, the event was cancelled due to Coronavirus but the photo shows Mr. David Woodward, secretary of Beulah Brass who received the award via a 'virtual presentation'.
The High Sheriff enclosed with the photo the following words.
"Here's to the everyday heroes
The volunteers who do what they can
To ease the suffering of others
And be of service to their fellow man."
Beulah Brass Band: we support charities, perform community concerts, assist worship in church services and play music in care homes and hospitals.
